After three whole months had passed since the Israelites had left “the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai” (Exodus 19:1), and “camped before the mount” (Exodus 19:2). This was the very same mountain that the Great I Am – the Mighty Lord God had personally spoken to Moses earlier at the burning bush when He gave him his commission to free the Israelites from Egyptian bondage (Exodus 3:1-22). So “Moses went up unto God” (Exodus 19:3) to the same spot on this mountain where he had met with God before, and “the Lord called unto him” (Exodus 19:3) and gave him a specific message to take to the children of Israel.
